How do I clean and care for my Dogwood Collar?

Dogwood Collars are durable to the elements and each one will develop uniquely with time, play, and the natural oils from your pets coat. Feel free to wash the collar as it gets dirty with soap and water, and allow to dry completely. You may then coat the collar (I use my hands) in coconut oil to create a new, and natural finish.

What are Dogwood Collars made of?

The cord is USA made 550lb tensile strength Paracord, and the Beads are Maple Wood, a hard wood native to North America.

If the beads are made of wood, how durable are they?

Accepted Answer

Remarkably durable! The beads are made of Maple, a hard neutral colored wood. The way the grain is angled on the lathe allows the beads to have a very strong stress point, they can *literally* be run over with a car (see instagram) and not break. The only returned collar was left out and chewed by a certain someones sister, in which case, one bead was broken and most beads had teeth marks.

Are they comfortable for the dog to wear all the time?

YES! Comfort was one of my main focuses of the design! Because they fit rather loose like a necklace, when your pet is in lounge-mode the collar moves to where is most comfortable for the resting position on the neck. They are round and smooth, and can even act almost like a massager! (That's my special trick for my boy Gino!)

Dogwood Collars are a custom made to our customer's provided measurements, all sales are final. Please ensure you have measured correctly (see the measurements page!) prior to purchase and please reach out on our contact form! How long do dogwood collars take to craft and ship?

Are these collars really hand made?!

Accepted Answer

Absolutely are! I color the beads, finish the beads, and tie the collars all myself in my  studio. The Paracord, Beads and Brass Rings I source from US companies.

Question 8

Are these collars good for longer haired pets?

Accepted Answer

Yes! I generally string the beads a touch looser for pets with longer fur to allow free movement of pet hair.
